Our Religious Education program consists of a combination of Family Catechesis and in-class learning. Our combination model is part of our effort to better support parents as the primary educators, especially in the religious education, of their children.
Our Family Catechesis portion is designed to allow parents to grow in their faith along with their children. At least one parent comes with his/her child/children and attends the monthly Family Catechesis session. Parents gather to hear a presentation from an adult faith formation leader while the children go to their grade-level classrooms for an age-appropriate lesson. Children will attend two classroom sessions a month. Parents will then work with their child/children to complete one take home lesson a month.
Families with children eligible (Grade 2+) to begin preparation for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion will need to attend an additional monthly gathering and fulfill additional requirements.
The primary aim of sacramental preparation is to ensure that students approaching the sacraments are suitably instructed and properly disposed. Sacramental Preparation is in addition to regular faith formation in Religious Education /Family Catechesis or our St Therese of Lisieux Parish school.
Our Youth Ministry program offers opportunities for high school students to encounter Christ through prayer, sacrament, and fellowship.
We seek to aid teens to grow in their faith and to help them connect our faith to real life. These nights are a great way for students to connect with fellow Catholic students and grow in relationship with the Lord.
High school students will also meet many new saints this year in theDead Theologians Society. Teens will also have the opportunity to participate in faith building activities, small group discussions as well as hear various speakers throughout the year!
The primary aim of sacramental preparation is to ensure that students approaching the Sacrament of Confirmation are suitably instructed and properly disposed. Confirmation Preparation is in addition to attending Youth Ministry.
Confirmation Prep consists of 6 sessions. Each session will be held on a Sunday morning one time a month. A parent and/or sponsor are required to also attend.
Absences from Confirmation Prep sessions should only occur in instances of illness or family emergency as we only have 6 sessions.
If a Confirmandi is unable to attend and complete all sacramental prep for Confirmation, the sacrament will need to be delayed.
