At St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, we are blessed to partner with parents in nurturing the faith of their children. The Catholic Church teaches that parents are the first and primary educators of their children in the faith, and our Religious Education program is designed to support families in this sacred responsibility.

Our program combines Family Catechesis with classroom faith formation, providing opportunities for children and parents to grow together as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Welcome to our Religious Education program! We are honored to partner with parents in forming children as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. As the primary educators of your children in the Catholic faith, you play an essential role in living the promises made at Baptism by participating in Sunday Mass, family prayer, and the sacramental life of the Church. Our catechists are here to support your family as we grow together in faith.

First Reconciliation & First Holy Communion

Preparing to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion is a beautiful milestone in the life of every Catholic child. Our second-grade sacramental preparation program uses the Signs of Grace curriculum from the Augustine Institute to help children encounter the mercy of Jesus Christ and grow in their understanding of the Eucharist—the source and summit of the Christian life. Through Scripture, the lives of the saints, prayer, and engaging lessons, children are prepared to receive these sacred Sacraments with faith and reverence.

Parents are the primary educators of their children in the Catholic faith, and your participation is an essential part of this journey. Throughout the year, one parent or guardian is asked to attend six formation sessions that accompany your child's preparation. These gatherings provide an opportunity to deepen your own understanding of the Sacraments while supporting your child as they prepare to receive God's grace through Reconciliation and the Holy Eucharist.

Our 9th grade program prepares students to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation by helping them grow as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. Through prayer, Scripture, Catholic teaching, service, and fellowship, students deepen their relationship with Christ and gain a greater understanding of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and their call to live as active members of His Church. This program is a required step for students who plan to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation in tenth grade.

Parents are the primary educators of their children in the Catholic faith, and your witness is an essential part of your child's formation. We encourage families to participate faithfully in Sunday Mass and Holy Days of Obligation, receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation regularly, and make prayer a part of daily family life. Throughout the year, students will participate in parish service opportunities, prayer experiences, and faith discussions that help them grow in holiness and prepare them to embrace their vocation as Catholic Christians.

Confirmation is more than a class—it is a time of intentional discipleship and preparation to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Candidates are expected to participate faithfully in Sunday Mass, observe Holy Days of Obligation, receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, complete 15 hours of Christian service, attend the required retreat, and participate in the Jason Evert presentation on Tuesday, October 27, at St. Bernard's with at least one parent. Candidates will also interview with a parish member and write a letter to Bishop Hying requesting the Sacrament of Confirmation.
